VARIOUS DIETS AND TREATMENTS – SITZ BATHS AND THEIR MEDICINAL VALUE (REGULAR SITZ BATHS)

April 8th, 2009

The best vessel to use for a sitz bath is, of course, one specially designed for that purpose; it will enable you to run off cooling water and add hot water, in order to maintain the required temperature. Lacking that, an ordinary bathtub will do, but you will have to keep a bucket of very hot water by the side of it. Use this hot water to top up the bath after removing some of the cooling water; to do this you will need a jar and another bucket for disposal. If all you have is a bathtub, you can take such a ‘half bath’ with the water reaching no higher than the navel. If you have an ordinary bathtub and a small hip bath, you can simply put a plank across the tub and stand the hip bath on it. You will need another plank or board as a foot rest. A hand shower attachment will make it quite easy to add more hot water, while the cooling water can be left to run out into the unplugged bathtub underneath. The advantage of this arrangement is obvious; at the end of your bath the water can be emptied straight into the tub.

Regular sitz baths are beneficial to your health, will preserve your youthfulness and, of course, have a great influence on your mental and emotional disposition and attitude.
