Let us look at a rice grain. The inner kernel, the endosperm, consists mainly of starch, as is the case with all other grains, for example wheat and barley. From this we get white flour. Starch is a carbohydrate, and supplies energy, without which we cannot live. That is why it would be unwise to throw away the starch and use only the bran, for example, because the proportion in which starch is associated with the others substances contained in the grain is intimately related to the needs of our bodies. The proportion matches the correct formula. To meddle with it would be equivalent to altering the proportions of the ingredients of a perfect recipe, the one our wise Creator provided for our benefit and that of other animals.
Besides the starch, the grain contains bran. This, in turn, is made up of layers of gluten, various minerals and trace elements. Research has shown that only the most minute amounts of these trace elements are required, yet if they are missing altogether, the various functions of the system begin to suffer. These known and unknown trace elements are found in the outer layers of the grain, the bran.

Having an efficient pancreas is important to obese people, as this gland influences the fat metabolism. Regular use of Molkosan will slowly reduce excess weight, especially if kelp tablets are taken at the same time. This does not mean, however, that people who are underweight will have to avoid taking whey concentrate, for it regulates the metabolism rather than having a specific catabolic effect. So both underweight and overweight persons will benefit. In short, Molkosan makes for better assimilation of food.
Molkosan can be applied externally with the same success as when it is used internally. It has proved to be more valuable in the treatment of pimples, eczema and cradle cap than many more expensive preparations. For the most part, eczema can be treated by dabbing on undiluted whey concentrate. In cases of skin impurities and blemishes fine results are achieved if Molkosan is
both taken internally and applied externally. Where athlete’s foot and nail mould have not yet yielded to any other remedy, Molkosan will give quick and reliable relief. Just soak some absorbent cotton in it, bind this on the affected part and leave it on overnight. Dr Devrient of Berlin has confirmed that no other remedy for mycotic diseases is quicker and more reliable than Molkosan whey concentrate. When used to clean minor wounds, scratches and cuts, it is a first-class antiseptic.

The best vessel to use for a sitz bath is, of course, one specially designed for that purpose; it will enable you to run off cooling water and add hot water, in order to maintain the required temperature. Lacking that, an ordinary bathtub will do, but you will have to keep a bucket of very hot water by the side of it. Use this hot water to top up the bath after removing some of the cooling water; to do this you will need a jar and another bucket for disposal. If all you have is a bathtub, you can take such a ‘half bath’ with the water reaching no higher than the navel. If you have an ordinary bathtub and a small hip bath, you can simply put a plank across the tub and stand the hip bath on it. You will need another plank or board as a foot rest. A hand shower attachment will make it quite easy to add more hot water, while the cooling water can be left to run out into the unplugged bathtub underneath. The advantage of this arrangement is obvious; at the end of your bath the water can be emptied straight into the tub.
Regular sitz baths are beneficial to your health, will preserve your youthfulness and, of course, have a great influence on your mental and emotional disposition and attitude.

Yet there is a simple remedy to dispel it quickly; just eat some fresh raw parsley at the same time. You can make a tasty sandwich by slicing a garlic clove onto a slice of buttered bread and adding a little Herbaforce.
Like all foods that have a penetrating smell and a strong taste, garlic should be taken in small amounts only, otherwise it could be harmful, especially to the kidneys. Garlic as well as onions contain a sulphurous essential oil that is probably responsible for its effectiveness as a vermifuge, an agent that causes the expulsion of intestinal worms. Garlic milk is excellent for this purpose, as described below. Crushed garlic can also be added to a wormwood infusion instead of milk, to be drunk or used as an enema in the same way as garlic milk.
Half a clove of garlic, placed between the gums and cheek, will often soothe a headache. Earache and headaches often respond to a garlic or onion poultice applied to the back of the neck.

Sea buckthorn has even more to offer us than its high vitamin content. Its berries also contain other vitamins, for example, water-soluble vitamin B, fat-soluble provitamin A and even vitamin E. These natural, biological vitamins are vital for keeping the body healthy, fit and efficient. Various acids, such as malic and tartaric acids, have also been identified in these berries. The sea buckthorn berry seeds can also be used to produce an oil of which the dietary value is unquestionable.
If you suffer from constant infections and bleeding of the gums and mucous membranes, you would do well to take sea buckthorn products as a dietary supplement. Sea buckthorn berries being rich in many vitamins and trace elements, it is obvious that the products based on them are recommended for children and adults alike as food supplements and a tonic.
In Switzerland, sea buckthorn grows abundantly in the upper Inn valley and in Ticino, especially in the Maggia valley. When ripe, the orange-coloured berries nestling between olive-green leaves are quite conspicuous, and in the wintertime birds can be seen enjoying them to the full. We use sea buckthorn extract as one of the ingredients in our vitamin preparation called Bio-C-Lozenges.
